Ryan Gosling’s Song from ‘Barbie’ Movie Debuts on Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Though “I’m Just Ken” is Gosling’s first Hot 100 entry, he has landed on other Billboard charts for his performances in the 2016 film “La La Land,” according to the outlet.
Gosling, who was a cast member on Disney Channel’s “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” as a child, supposedly got the idea to perform “I’m Just Ken” in the film, which debuted on July 21.

In an article published last month, Mark Ronson, executive producer of the soundtrack album, informed Vanity Fair that after hearing the demo, Gosling begged to sing the song in the film.
The music producer, who also co-wrote “I’m Just Ken,” praised Gosling’s performance.
He really understood that it had to walk this line between not being funny or parody, Ronson said.

Gosling’s performance in “I’m Just Ken” very definitely served mainly to persuade director Greta Gerwig that he was the right choice for Ken.
Rolling Stone was told by Gerwig in July that this role was “only ever” for Gosling.
