NFL Player Caleb Farley’s Father Passes Away Following North Carolina Home Explosion
In a shocking incident on Monday night, a devastating explosion rocked the North Carolina residence of Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley, resulting in the tragic loss of his father and injuries to a family friend.
Kent Greene, the Emergency Management Director for Iredell County, confirmed these distressing details via Social Media.
Upon responding to the scene at the multimillion-dollar Mooresville home, first responders encountered 25-year-old Christian Rogers, a close family friend, who had managed to exit the house.
Thankfully, Rogers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to Atrium Main in Charlotte, as reported in a statement released by Iredell County. Subsequently, amid the rubble, responders discovered the lifeless body of Farley’s father, 61-year-old Robert Farley.
During a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon, authorities disclosed that they are currently investigating a potential natural gas issue as the cause of the explosion, although the inquiry remains ongoing. Reports of a gas odour in the vicinity had been made.
Significantly, Caleb Farley was not at home when the explosion occurred. The residence had been acquired with the understanding that it was for his father, according to Kent Greene, Director of Fire Services and Emergency Management for Iredell County.
On Tuesday morning, Farley, accompanied by his aunt and uncle, arrived in town and visited the site of the tragic incident, Greene reported.
The explosion caused extensive destruction, reducing the 6,391-square-foot home to ruins and damaging multiple vehicles, according to authorities. Kent Greene somberly remarked, “There’s nothing left of the structure except maybe a partial wall.”

In response to this devastating turn of events, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel expressed the team’s unwavering support for Caleb Farley, emphasizing that this support is paramount during such a trying time. “It’s all pretty insignificant,” he said.
Caleb Farley, a native of North Carolina, was selected as a first-round pick by the Titans in the 2021 NFL draft, following his collegiate career at Virginia Tech.
Tragically, Caleb’s family has endured hardship before. His mother, Robin, passed away in 2018 due to complications from breast cancer, as reported by Sports Illustrated. Caleb had described his mother as his “biggest fan” in an interview with the magazine before entering the NFL draft.
