Former President Donald Trump pleads ‘not guilty’ in federal court in Washington, D.C., on Thursday afternoon, after being indicted on charges stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s probe into 2020 election tampering and the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
Former President Donald Trump celebrated on TRUTH Social on Thursday evening, only hours after pleading not guilty to four federal charges related to the 2020 election and rallies at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“It was a very good day!” After pleading not guilty to four counts of obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to impede an official proceeding, and conspiracy to defraud, ex-President Barack Obama wrote an all-caps message.the United States, and conspiracy to prevent others from exercising their constitutional rights.
Trump stated in the tweet that he needed to fly to Washington, D.C., which he described as “filthy, dirty, falling apart, and very unsafe.”
Trump, who is also the Republican nominee for 2024, claimed he was arrested by his “political opponent.”

According to Thursday’s indictment, brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith, Trump allegedly attempted to alter election results and obstruct the peaceful transfer of power following his defeat in November 2020.
